Day two of our 25 presidential elections in 25 days.
On Tuesday, November 7, 1916 voters headed to the polls across the United States to select a president. The nominees that year were: Woodrow Wilson (Democrat), Charles Evans Hughes (Republican), Allan L. Benson (Socialist) and Frank Hanly (Prohibition). President Wilson would go on to win re-election but Charles Evans Hughes won Lackawanna County. Overall President Wilson would receive 9,126,868 votes and 277 votes in the Electoral College with Mr. Hughes receiving 8,548,728 votes and 254 votes in the Electoral College.
